My name is Payson Purcell. I am a first year student at Knox. I am from Purcell which is centrally located in Oklahoma and is commonly referred to as the heart of Oklahoma.I am planning on being a biology major with either a business or chem minor. I am a part of the football team here at Knox and play defensive back. Some of my academic interests are biology, math, and music history. Some of my other interests other than academics are of course football, fishing, music, hunting, and hanging out with my friends. I tend to always have some kind of music going wherever I may be. I am a big believer in music and its ability to be an inhibitor for productive work. Some of the music I listen to is mainstream music but I tend to find myself often introducing people to some new artists or new genres that they don’t normally listen to. With being here at Knox I have learned a lot of things and I am excited about this course because I haven’t learned a whole lot about Native American and indigenous history. Although I haven’t learned a whole lot I still have some knowledge about Native American history because we were required to take a Native American history class in 6th grade but since then there has been a lot of knowledge come in and out of my brain.
