Introduction

Hello! My name is Israel, He/Him pronouns and I am a second-year student. My academic interests are math and am planning on doing a self-designed major in Architecture. I enjoy watching and playing soccer and hanging out with friends. I am looking forward to this class to have a new perspective of Native American history and also look at the territory where they live. I have had some previous history but it has been very brief on the Native history. I remember having to read a book for a class that was focused on their lives on a reservation and how things would happen, I recall that there was some sort of rivalry between different tribes and I never knew there were differences which brought me to the idea that I had little to no information of their history. I want to learn more about the history and who they really were since during high school I never really had a class based on this. I believe that what I was taught throughout high school was based on history books and a perspective of the “discovery” of the territory. I am looking forward to gaining knowledge on the topic and being able to share this information with others who might not have the opportunity to take the class and really learn more about the history that I was never taught at a younger age. I also hope to gain a perspective that helps me compare the representation that Native American people get in films and be able to know what is true and what is not.
